Restoring connection and belonging in East Nashville

Trinity Community Commons is a neighborhood nonprofit transforming an old church building into a vital community gathering space for all of our neighbors.

Who we are

To show radical hospitality to all people, restoring connections between neighbors and a sense of belonging within our community.

Our mission

To include all people in the social and economic life of the community as equals. No second class citizens.

Vision

We believe that every individual has immeasurable worth, and that all our lives are interconnected. We need and depend on each other in so many ways, and our greatest gifts and strengths find their truest expression when we share them with and for the good of our neighbors.

What we believe

“All life is interrelated… Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly. As long as there is poverty in this world, no man can be totally rich even if he has a billion dollars… I can never be what I ought to be until you are what you ought to be. You can never be what you ought to be until I am what I ought to be.”

MLK said it best:

What we do

We host events so neighbors can build authentic, life giving relationships together:
meals, markets, musical performances, yoga, dance classes, support groups, celebrations, memorial services, & more. Whatever the community needs, & whatever neighbors have to offer.

We welcome all neighbors, especially those who are typically excluded from community life.
Everyone belongs in community, so we make every effort to include each of our neighbors.

We share what we have in abundance for the common good.
But the goal isn’t an efficient transfer of material goods (though sometimes that’s important). The goal is that we share our time, our joys, and our sorrows, so that we can grow together in relationship with one another. We gather and share in such a way that the worth & value of all people is affirmed. Everyone has something good to bring and share with their neighbor.

We erase the lines between host and guest, between giver and receiver, between rich and poor.
We’re not a soup kitchen, where one side with much stands apart from and gives to another side in need. We’re a community where all people take turns serving, because we all have gifts to give, and where we also take turns receiving, because we’re all poor in some way. We’re aiming for unity and solidarity across dividing lines.

We’re writing the next chapter of our story -

and we need your help.

  • Host an event
